The beauty of the dome atop the Turkmenistan Ministry of Defence building is in its simplicity. The outer shell composite panels are detailed with mosaic patterns in traditional Turkmen carpet design. The national flag on a small gold-painted finial at the apex poignantly highlights the dome.

Its interior panels are of painted relief with a central spherical disc as a centre of focus. 

This 28m diameter dome is a shallow trussed steel structure, and is built on freestanding leg members to protect the dome againts earthquake.
